David Kravitz considered being an English literature teacher, but that was before he visited a local winery in Campania to get wine for Sunday supper. Once David saw how wine was an organic part of life well lived, there was no turning back.
Though the best day of his life was when his first son was born, David enjoys spreading his passion about wine every day. When a guest of the restaurant has the opportunity to understand what they are drinking and enjoy their experience more fully, David is happy. For those interested in becoming a sommelier, David recommends reading every book on wine available, taking the American Sommelier’s Viticulture & Vinification Course and trying to get a job as a cellar assistant. His advice then? “Proceed to work 60-plus hours a week for a few years and you should be good.”
David recommends Kermit Lynch’s Adventures on the Wine Route and finds himself listening to Spanish guitar and late seventies, early eighties punk bands on his iPod.
